The Importance of Customer Service

=================================

The key to getting repeat business is through good customer service.

My primary business is with a British Home Shopping Company, Kleeneze, and my sales are generated through delivering and collecting catalogues which offer my customers over 2000 products.

Thankfully the catalogues do the selling for me so I do not have to stand at doorsteps and persuade my customers to buy there and then, even though that was how this company started back in 1923.

So why do they buy from me when they could easily get some of the types of products I offer down the supermarket with their regular weekly shop?

… I offer them the convenience of shopping from home

… I save them having to carry these items from the store to the car, or even maybe the bus, and from the car/bus to their house, as I deliver to their doorstep.

Good Customer Service
==================

My customers know I am regular, reliable, friendly, and trustworthy …

I deliver a catalogue through my customers’ letterbox on a regular basis.

My customers know I am reliable and will return to collect the catalogue without fail. Come hell or high water; through rain, fog, hail, or snow I will call to collect the catalogue on the day that I have indicated.

Communication is key because then the customer always knows where they stand …

… my catalogue is always clearly marked to tell my customer when to leave it outside for collection,

… I always leave a slip that advises them when to expect delivery of their order,

… and I will always let them know if there is an item which is delayed or sold out.

Body Language is also very important …

… clearly there are times when you are not always feeling your happiest, especially when it is raining continuously, but I always have a smile for anyone I see regardless,

… and I am always friendly and interested in the well being of my customers when I get the chance to chat with them; I hear about their families, their pets, their illnesses, their operations, their holidays and everything people want to tell me … they want to be heard, so I listen.

And because of all of the above, my customers have grown to trust me and even pay up front for their goods so the items can be left somewhere agreed should they not be at home when I call to deliver.

The Power of Customer Service
=======================

People buy on emotion …

people buy from you because they like you.

I know that some of my customers buy because of me and not because I sell the products of my home shopping company …

and yes they could go and get the same products elsewhere and maybe even at a slightly cheaper prices …

BUT

my customers like to chat … so I give them my time and listen,

my customers like to see me … they like to see a happy friendly face,

my customers like the service I provide … because I communicate with them so they always know when they’ll be seeing me.

It’s all about making that connection with people … then you have their loyalty 🙂
